Calcio Padova, a Serie C football club, has changed ownership. Joseph Oughourlian, a French entrepreneur and sports executive, has sold 68.5% of the club to Acciaierie Venete, a historic industrial group owned by the Banzato family. The sale was made through a subsidiary of the group. Oughourlian was the owner of the football clubs Lens, Millonarios, and a minority shareholder of Real Saragozza. Acciaierie Venete, which recorded revenues of over one billion euros in 2024, was assisted by BonelliErede with a team composed of partner Marco Arato, partner Matteo Maria Pratelli, and associate Salvatore Noto. The seller and Calcio Padova were assisted by lawyer Simone Perazzolo of the Conte-Perazzolo studio in Padua. Oughourlian first entered Italian football in 2017 by acquiring 20% of Padova's shares, at a time when the club was playing in Serie C. After promotion to Serie B in the same season, the French entrepreneur became the majority shareholder with 51% in 2019. Once the team returned to the third tier of Italian football, in December 2020, the exit of former president Roberto Bonetto from the board of directors was announced, with Oughourlian owning 96% of the shares. After two consecutive playoff finals losses, in 2023, president Francesco Peghin and Paduan entrepreneur Alessandro Banzato, who acquired 25% of Padova's shares, joined the club. In December 2024, the entry of another minority shareholder reduced Oughourlian's shares to 68.25%. On January 19, 2026, despite promotion to the second tier in the just-concluded season and somewhat chilly relations with Padova fans, the Frenchman's activity in the Veneto city ended with the sale of all his shares to Banzato, head of Acciaierie Venete Spa. The sale was officially announced on the same day. Acciaierie Venete is an industrial group with a long history and a strong presence in the Veneto region. The company recorded revenues of over one billion euros in 2024 and has a significant presence in the steel sector. The group is led by Alessandro Banzato, who acquired 25% of Padova's shares in 2023. The sale of 68.5% of Calcio Padova to Acciaierie Venete marks a new chapter in the history of the Paduan football club. Padova fans are eagerly awaiting to see what this change in ownership will bring. The team is ready to start a new adventure with the new owner. The future of Calcio Padova is uncertain, but one thing is sure: the club will continue to play in the Serie C. The new owner has promised to invest in the team and bring it back to the top of Italian football.
